Too often, we saw communities brought into processes they didn’t shape, toward goals they didn’t set, measured by indicators that didn’t reflect what mattered — genuine goodwill, but structurally extractive outcomes.
What would it take for communities to lead their own analysis, generate their own evidence, and engage institutions on their own terms?
That question became Colmeal — a structured, adaptable approach to community-led development. What we’ve learned is this: when communities have the right structures — not just the invitation — remarkable things follow.

Colmeal embeds into organisational practice, enhancing programmes through a structured process where communities lead their own assessment, evidence generation, reflection and engagement with institutions — on their own terms, using data they own and trust.
What We Do

We steward Colmeal and support organisations to enhance their locally-led development approaches — from initial integration through to independent stewardship and formation of local hubs.
MEAL Systems & Impact
We assess, design and strengthen monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning systems that are meaningful, community-centred, and built to inform decisions and drive actions beyond reporting.
Fundability & Design
We support project ideation, co-design and co-creation, and proposal development that positions locally-led, inclusive, and meaningful MEAL and human-centred design principles at the core, from concept through submission.
